The American Institute of Architects Birmingham Chapter and The Greater Birmingham Humane Society have joined forces to bring “Gimme Shelter: Barkitecture Tour & Charity Auction” to the Greater Birmingham area. The project was conceived to allow local architects and artists a chance to display their creative skills to a wide audience while helping raise funds to benefit the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
Birmingham area architecture firms and renowned artists are participating in this unique project and competition. Functional doghouses have been designed and built by the architects, designers, and artists. The Barkitecture will be judged with the winning doghouse design featured in Birmingham Magazine and the architect will enjoy a patio party for twenty at Concina Superior.
Following the display period, the doghouses, along with hand-painted pet bowls and fire hydrants, will be auctioned on Friday, July 25th, at the event of the summer, The Gimme Shelter Charity Auction. The event will begin at 7:00 PM at B&A Warehouse and the attire is business casual. Jason and The Scorchers will provide live entertainment throughout the evening in conjunction with live & silent auctions, food, drinks, and fun. The B&A Warehouse is located at 1531 1st Avenue South, Birmingham, Alabama.
